About The Event

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word feminism? Most of us perceive it as gender equality.

Uplifting ladies makes the world a nicer place to live for everyone as it incentives education, the economy, decision making, the justice system, and it improves society overall and although women have gained many rights over the past few decades, there is still a lot to do to develop positive lasting effects.

Join the workshop to learn more about how we can all raise awareness and promote a beneficial change.

Karen Adams is the Treasurer of the Houston Area and Texas State chapters of the National Organization for Women (NOW), the largest organization of feminist grassroots activists in the United States.

Karen is a native Texan and lives in Houston with her husband. She retired from manufacturing with 33 years of service. During her career, Karen worked in Human Resources, Supply Chain, and retired as a Financial Analyst.  Her work-life experiences opened her eyes to the inequities between men and women in the workplace. She graduated from the University of Houston – Clear Lake with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

The mother of two daughters and the grandmother of two granddaughters, she understands more than ever the importance of continuing the fight for women’s rights.

Always a supporter of reproductive rights for women and rights for the underserved, she found her place with NOW after retirement.  In Texas, the primary focus has been to register voters and help them understand the power of their vote.  To make a change, we must elect people who represent our values.
