About The Event

Join the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston for a social evening focused on Perspectives On Peace with Marc Mori.

The topics of discussion will be:

Introduction

Peace Concepts

Inner Peace and Outer Peace

Peace as a Creative Act

These topics will be followed up by breakout sessions and a harvest. Would like to have a student in each breakout session to be a “recorder” keeping track of the responses of each breakout session so we can have a “harvest” capturing the collective intelligence of the group.

The event will host a guest expert who will be facilitating a discussion around sustainability and ways we can take action. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions to learn about ways to get involved in their own community as leaders.

Please email our Education Department ([email protected]) for any questions about our education programs.

About The Speaker

Marc Mori was born in Tokyo, and raised in Mexico City, and California.  He attended over 12 schools in three countries before graduating from high school in Los Angeles.  Marc studied Geography at UCLA and later studied Management.  He was an Army Infantry Officer in Germany during the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.  He later worked as a welfare worker for the State of Hawaii and then was hired by the FBI as a Special Agent for over 24 years. In 2016 Marc retired from the FBI and became a Rotary Peace Fellow, becoming certified in Conflict and Peace studies at the Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.

Marc works as a consultant, teaching critical thinking and analysis for clients overseas.  He specializes in Facial Behavioral Analysis with a consultancy in the Woodlands.  When in Houston, Marc does facilitation work with Be the Peace, Be the Hope, creating environments in schools to heighten social-emotional learning in classrooms so students are more connected and open to academic learning.  Marc is also a peace consultant, Yoga instructor, QiGong teacher, and sound healer.  He believes one way to create more peace in the world is to find peace within, which naturally manifests peace around him.  Marc is married with a family and three children, two dogs, and a cat.  He looks forward to share perspectives on peace with the World Affairs Council.
