Having been recently appointed as the Deputy National Security Advisor to the Vice President Kamala Harris, Philip Gordon is now unfortunately unable to join this event on regime change and the Middle East.

About the event

Our new speaker for this event is his long-time colleague at the Council on Foreign Relations, Ray Takeyh. Takeyh is a former senior advisor on Iran at the Department of State, and a highly regarded expert on Iran, political reform in the Middle East, and Islamist movements and parties.

This webinar will still address the concept of regime change in the Middle East, and will have more of a focus on Iran. We will also discuss Takeyh’s latest acclaimed book ‘The Last Shah: America, Iran, and the Fall of the Pahlavi Dynasty’ and the US’s varying past approaches and possible options going forward relating to Iran and the region.
