Join us for a special Wine & Wisdom evening shaped by firsthand experience, as Sandija Bayot, Chief Development Officer at the Council, shares reflections from her personal journey to Greenland and what it revealed about life, culture, and geopolitics at the world’s edge.

With special guest Thomas Mortensen, he became the third Consul General of Denmark in Houston when he was appointed Head of Mission in August 2025. As Consul General, Thomas promotes Danish interests in Texas and holds the consular responsibility for Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.
Based in Houston, he also leads the Trade Council’s efforts in energy in North America. The North American Energy team comprises dedicated specialists within wind, biogas, and energy transition who share knowledge and promote trade out of Danish missions in Houston, Silicon Valley, Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C., Ottowa, and Toronto.
Thomas brings a substantial amount of experience within The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark to Houston. Before being appointed Consul General, Thomas held a team leader position within Resources, Compliance & CRM at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in Copenhagen. He has also served as a Minister Counselor, Head of Trade Department at the Embassy of Denmark in Russia, and as a Project Manager at the Innovation Centre of Denmark in Silicon Valley.
