Global Scholars Academy is an immersive summer enrichment program

International affairs is increasingly relevant to many career paths, including foreign policy and international business, law and human rights, medicine and global health, and science and technology. The Global Scholars Academy curriculum gives students the tools to understand and engage with some of the world’s most complex issues while preparing them to become future global leaders. This transformative summer experience challenges students to think critically, explore different perspectives, and better understand the cultures, societies, and systems that shape our world.

GSA is all about combining education with fun, providing a unique blend of interactive learning experiences and global insights. With a curriculum aimed at global awareness and international career pathways, there is nothing else like Global Scholars Academy in Houston.

What to Expect?

At GSA, we’re committed to preparing students for success in a globalized world. Here’s what days at the academy will look like:

  •  Interactive Sessions: Learn about a variety of subjects like international law, foreign policy, global health, and the environment, through engaging and interactive sessions.
  • Expert Dialogues: Participate in student-led discussions with experts from industry, government, and international affairs.
  • Immersive Activities: Engage in group activities that challenge students to think critically about global issues and come up with innovative solutions.

  • Week-Long Program: All sessions of the Global Scholars Academy take place Monday through Friday. Each day will begin at 9:00AM and end at 3:00PM.

Each day of the Academy explores a different theme in International Relations:

Day 1: The Structure of the International System

Day 2: The Tools of Diplomacy & Foreign Policy

Day 3: Trade & International Development

Day 4: The Global South & Developing World

Day 5: The Environment & Sustainability

As a participant in the Global Scholars Academy, you will receive a certificate of completion recognizing your engagement with global affairs. You will also gain invaluable knowledge and networking opportunities from guest speakers who are experts in their subject areas.

The World Affairs Council of Greater Houston is a Certified Professional Education Provider by the Texas Education Agency. (CPE #501-096)

Registration fees cover all curriculum and lesson materials; lunch, snacks and refreshments, and other fees associated with this week-long program.
