Costa Rica is one of Central America’s most remarkable destinations, a country where volcanoes, cloud forests, tropical rivers, mangroves, and Pacific beaches come together in a compact but extraordinarily diverse landscape. This journey offers an ideal introduction to the country’s natural beauty and cultural character, beginning in the capital city of San José before continuing into some of Costa Rica’s most celebrated regions. Over the course of the program, we will experience the dramatic crater of Poás Volcano, the rural artisan traditions of Grecia and Sarchí, the lush landscapes of La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano, and the misty cloud forests of Monteverde. Wildlife will be a constant theme, from river safaris and night walks to mangrove boat rides and the trails of Manuel Antonio National Park, where rainforest meets the Pacific coast. Along the way, we will also enjoy local flavors and traditions through coffee, chocolate, sugarcane, markets, and rural communities, making this a rich and varied exploration of Costa Rica’s landscapes, culture, and biodiversity.
