SOLD OUT: Wine & Wisdom – The European Union: How Does It Govern, Trade & Shape the World?

SOLD OUT – NO ON SITE REGISTRATION

Out of the massive devastation of WWII and with the hope that Europe would never again return to war, the frameworks emerged for the future European Union.

Today across 27 member nations, 450 million people live in the European Union and benefit from its almost $20 Trillion economy. Since WWII, the E.U. has increasingly integrated economically and politically; and a major war has not broken out between member states – though Putin’s war on Ukraine is of grave concern.

But beyond all of its accomplishments . . .

  • How does the E.U. actually work?
  • What real powers does the E.U. have?
  • When, if ever, can the E.U. override the decisions of a nation state?
  • Do large nations such as Germany and France dominate the E.U.’s foreign and economic policy?
  • How has the E.U. not only greatly increased trade between its members, but with the rest of the world? How could the E.U. help the U.S. balance China’s growing global economic and political might?
  • And in coordination with NATO, how will the E.U. maintain its support of Ukraine and defend members states like Poland, Finland and the Baltic nations from a future possible Russian invasion?

Join European Union expert Dr. Beverly Barrett to learn more about – how the E.U. works; its actual powers and limitations; and how it is shaping, not just Europe, but the world.

Wine & Wisdom series brings together small groups of curious global thinkers for intimate conversations with leading international experts, diplomats, and policy makers.
