From Academic WorldQuest and Global Houston Model UN in the spring to Global Scholars Academy in the summer and SWAC chapters in your school, there is something for every student interested in global affairs.

Academic WorldQuest
Academic WorldQuest is a fast-paced, team-based competition that tests students’ knowledge of global issues, international affairs, geography, history, and culture. The winners from the local competition get a full travel scholarship to represent Houston at the national Academic WorldQuest competition.
Global Houston Model United Nations Conference
Global Houston Model United Nations Conference is a student-led, education-oriented model United Nations program that focuses on global diplomacy, research acquisition and soft skill development. The day of the conference students represent a country and take part in an immersive global affairs simulation that teaches students collaboration, communication and leadership.
Global Scholars Academy
Global Scholars Academy is a summer enrichment program designed for high school students who are interested in world affairs, international business, diplomacy, foreign policy and more. The curated curriculum provides an overview of the most complex global issues. This transformative summer experience challenges students to think critically and introduces them to cultural and social standards for citizens around the globe.
Scouting Merit Badges
Scouting Merit Badges are classes designed to improve civic engagement, arm Scouts with global awareness, and create well-rounded Scouts. Utilizing the Council’s expertise in globally focused education, merit badge classes cover the following badges: Citizenship in the World, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the Community, and Communication. Classes are taught by World Affairs Council Education Staff, who are Eagle Scouts themselves.
Transform your school experience with SWAC and the Diplomacy tour.
Student World Affairs Councils (SWAC) are on-campus educational offerings that provide students with dedicated space for globally minded students to connect, discuss current events, and engage with the Council’s educational opportunities. Students registered receive membership perks, including complimentary access to exclusive events throughout the year.
The Global Diplomacy Tour is an educational initiative designed for high school students interested in global affairs alongside professionals with varied international relations backgrounds. Students will learn from former U.S. Ambassadors and local foreign policy experts and engage in dynamic discussions about global careers, working with diverse cultures, and the realities of diplomacy.
