Houston Public Media’s Eddie Robinson began his media career on two commercial music stations in southwest Mississippi, while he was a 10th grader in high school. He graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Prairie View A&M University on a full-tuition scholarship thanks to ExxonMobil, while working as an award-winning on-air host for KPVU-FM on the campus.
After working as a project manager for the 3M Corporation, he moved to New York City in 1998 to pick up a Masters degree in Media Ecology from New York University. He went on to enhance his professional media career in broadcasting, working for over a dozen organizations – including CBS News; CBS Radio; CNN-affiliate, New York 1; MTV Networks and WNYC, New York Public Radio – the top public radio station in the country.
He’s also hosted his own sports talk radio show on SiriusXM Satellite Radio and co-hosted a television special on Houston Public Media’s TV8, entitled, “Houston In Black and White,” a 60-minute show that explores racial issues facing Black and White communities in Houston.
Robinson now works as Executive Producer and Talk Show Host for a new, weekly 60-minute broadcast radio show and podcast premiering this Spring on Saturdays @ 1PM CST on KUHF-FM called, “I SEE U.” The show is a part of Houston Public Media’s mission to expand more of its programming related to initiatives centered around diversity, equity and inclusion.
