Celebrating the 23rd Annual Jesse H. Jones Awards

Honoring citizens who have contributed to Houston's international spirit
About the 2021 Jesse H. Jones Awards

The World Affairs Council of Greater Houston proudly presents the 23rd Annual Jesse H. Jones Award Luncheon honoring the 2021 International Citizens of the Year. We are pleased to honor bp’s Starlee Sykes and Alistair Vickers for their accomplishments in promoting Houston’s standing on the international stage as the Energy Capital of the World. Both Starlee and Al represent the city's past, present, and future, and we are delighted to dream about the future alongside them at Houston's international leadership luncheon. Sykes and Vickers join past honorees including Noble Energy's Dave Stover, Chevron's Jeff Shellebarger, and Jeff Miller of Halliburton.

The 23rd Annual Jesse H. Jones Awards is the Council’s premier event of the year, bringing together leaders in education, business, finance, global affairs, and more. This year, we are pleased to present David M. Rubenstein – Philanthropist, Television Host, Author, and Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of The Carlyle Group – as the Jones Award Keynote Speaker. Our dialogue with David Rubenstein will be moderated by Occidental Petroleum's President and CEO Vicki Hollub.

Our shared passion for world affairs is what brings us together; we hope you’ll join us.

We are ecstatic to present not just one, but two, International Citizen of the Year Awards at the 2021 Jesse H. Jones Awards, Houston's premier international leadership luncheon. Starlee Sykes, the first female recipient, is a well-respected leader in the oil and gas sector, and her husband, Alistair, is on the cusp of innovation in the wind industry. They represent the past, present, and future of our city.

Continue the Legacy.

The Jones Awards honors individuals who, like influential Houstonians Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones, have contributed to Houston's international spirit.
