| What is the Global Scholars Academy?

The Global Scholars Academy is Houston’s premiere foreign affairs experience that is aimed at cultivating and inspiring students to a future in diplomacy. The Academy is for high school students ages 14 to 19.

It will be offered in-person in three sessions during the June, July and August. These sessions will take place across the Houston Area to best accommodate participants’ and parents’ travel. The program will take place Monday through Friday of each given session date.

Summer 2023 Session Dates:  

Session 1: June 26 – 30 (The Woodlands)  

Session 2: July 10 – 14 (Houston) 

Session 3: July 17 – 21 (Houston) 

Session 4: July 31 – August 4 (Sugarland)  

| What to Expect?

As a student in the Global Scholars Academy, you’ll spend your day immersed in a blend of classes, off-sites, activities, and group discussions. At the Academy, participants will  be developing their global consciousness, building interpersonal and oral presentation skills, and fostering a deeper understanding of global issues affecting society.  

We will do this by curating student led dialogue with global oriented professionals, offering group immersive education activities, posing critical thinking challenges about the nuance of global affairs, and introducing cultural and social standards for citizens around the globe.

• The Instruments of Foreign Policy
• Intelligence and Foreign Policy
• Ethics and International Affairs
• International Law
• Terrorism / Counter Terrorism
• Nuclear weapons
• The Environment
• Global Health
• International Development
• Special States in the International System (North Korea & Russia)
• The Future of the International System
