The Woodlands – The Impeachment Inquiry: Diplomacy and Domestic Politics
About The Event
Several Foreign Service officers became prime witnesses in the recent impeachment hearings on Capitol Hill — a highly unusual position those career diplomats didn’t seek. As non-partisan professionals and public servants, they stay away from domestic politics. Having studied, written about and worked with the Foreign Service for 16 years, Nicholas Kralev will provide an expert view and analysis of the impact of the diplomats’ reluctant involvement in the impeachment on their work, the American public and foreign countries.

A former Financial Times and Washington Times correspondent, he witnessed firsthand the conduct of American diplomacy while accompanying four U.S. secretaries of state on their travels around the world — Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright. He is the author of America’s Other Army and Diplomats in the Trenches. He holds a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
