By checking below you are consenting that you have read and understand the creation of a Student World Affairs Council (SWAC) chapter on your campus. You are responsible for upholding all responsibilities of the SWAC chapter.
Article I. Name and Affiliation
A. The name of the club shall be The Student World Affairs Council Chapter of [insert school name].
B. This organization will be linked to the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston.
Article II. Objectives / Mission
A. To become globally competent by engaging in cross-cultural experiences and staying abreast of world affairs, international politics, and current events.
B. To keep up-to-date with and promote awareness of world affairs in the student body on each chapter campus.
Article III. Membership Requirements
A. Be willing to participate fully in monthly activities of SWAC Chapter.
B. Attend at least four meetings per semester and a minimum of eight per academic year. Attending WACH Student World Program events may count as a club meeting.
D. Complete a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer service per academic year in the Greater Houston community.
Article VII. Faculty Supervision
A. Each Student World Affairs Council will have a minimum of one faculty sponsor but no more than two sponsors per chapter.
B. All on-campus meetings and activities may be held without direct supervision of a faculty sponsor.
C. Sponsor(s) will serve as the liaison(s) between their school and the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston.
Article VIII. Program and Event Guidelines
A. If you are registered for an event and will not be able to attend or are delayed the faculty sponsor must contact Felecia Chatman, Senior Education Manager, in a timely manner.
B. The cost of parking will be paid by the school or school district. One $150 bus scholarship is available to all SWAC chapters per academic year.
C. Each SWAC chapter is responsible for paying their annual membership fee of $65 (Title 1 schools are recieve a membership scholarship).
